We were lucky to have a long weekend. I hope you enjoyed some family time.
Eve had a fun time at Orton Bradley Park.

I have a friend in Canada who lives near astronaut, Chris Hadfield and she thought it would be awesome if she could arrange a Skype call with us. This is what she emailed us..
I heard back from Chris Hadfield 's People and was told Chris has no plans to visit New Zealand  as of yet and and to do a Skype call with students it takes up to 2 years to get on the list.
I think that is probably a bit too long to wait.

We've all settled back into school this term.

We had a busy Discovery time on Friday.
Lily brought her rabbit, Lightening to visit. He visited us earlier in the year and we found he has really grown! He likes walking on his lead!

Then we found out about Diwali - the Indian Festival of Lights. Ashveer was able to share some experiences with us. The children enjoyed painting and colouring Rangoli patterns.

Kaila and Kendra came to help us plant some 'Little Gardens'. When they sprout we will transplant the seedlings into the garden behind the old dental clinic.

Congratulations to Ashveer and Lily for completing 10/10 Home Learning Journey activities in Term 3. Ka pai!

Ella had her name pulled out for 'Pizza with the Principal' for the 3rd time at the last school assembly.
She decided to 'Pay it Forward' and chose Lily to go in her place. Ella said she chose Lily because she shows the school values.
Thanks Ella.

Frank took our little kiwi when he visited Fiji in the holidays.
It looks like they had a great time. Frank also visited a school and we sent a card and some books for the children.

The children looking at the card.

We have some great photos from our Learning Celebration last term.

We have only a few more days of holidays left before Term 4 begins. I hope everyone is having a good time. It was certainly great to see the sun this afternoon!
Remember hats for Monday. All children are required to wear hats in Terms 1 & 4 (No hat, no play sitting in the walkway)
The hats need to be plain black  - no logos or pictures etc or the school hat.

Sunday, October 1, 2017

Karen brought a box just in case the children could use it at Discovery time.........and the children could!
They worked as a team to decide what to make - a space rocket.

They decided how to make it

And what additions would be required.

Some children played 'Battleship'

Some carried on with their own creations

Ashveer, Caezar and Dennis worked together to work out the distance of planets from the sun.
They started at the Ford Road gate with the sun and finished up nearly as far as the spider with Kuipers Belt.
